WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – New details are being uncovered regarding one of the two men authorities say helped initiate a chase and standoff Wilmington Police.

Christopher Williams is charged with attempted murder and armed robbery, according to court documents.

According to an arrest warrant, Williams was charged in connection to the Willow Pond Apartments shooting on Jan. 1.

The warrant alleges Williams pulled the trigger of a handgun multiple times the night of the shooting.

The victim, Kareem Thomas, was reportedly shot in the chest and was sent to the hospital with injuries.

The warrant also states that Williams stole a cell phone, necklace and other property worth $100 from Thomas.

Officers tried to the serve the warrant on Williams during a traffic stop last week, but he and another man, Jermaine Cordova, took off running from police.

The chase eventually turned into a standoff with Cordova.

Williams managed to get away for most of the day but ended up turning himself in later in the night.

Williams is still in jail under $500,000 bond.
