Associates take man shot in face to hospital, flip car on the way

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WECT) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department arrested and charged a man from Elizabethtown in connection to a bar shooting Saturday night.

According to police, Pervis Levell Thomas, 36, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Police say the incident at Big Shots Bar & Grill started after an argument broke out between Thomas' girlfriend and one of the victims, Marcus Howell-el.

Thomas had a gun in his possession and started fighting Howell-el. Police say Howell-el's brother, Tavon Howell-el, saw the gun and tried to get it away from Thomas. Antoine Harrell also tried to help Tavon take the gun away from Thomas.

According to police, shots were fired during the altercation and injured three victims.

Marcus was shot in the leg, Tavon was shot in the face and Harrell was bruised in the back when one of the bullets passed through his shirt.

While Marcus and Harrell remained at the scene, Tavon was taken to the hospital with two associates in a private vehicle. Their vehicle overturned on the way to the hospital near the intersection of Robeson Street and Village Drive.

Police say all three victims are recovering from the injuries.
