WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Formers residents at a local group home are wondering when they will see their personal belongings again.
WECT.com first told you that Port South Village was closing down because its Medicaid funding was cut. Management at Port South gave residents only a few days notice to pack their things and leave.
A number of residents and their family members reached out to WECT for answers.
Officials tell us residents were instructed to only take a few of their belongings because the homes were infested with bed bugs. However, family members say they were forced out and need to get their personal things.
Port South was a group home that cared for the mentally ill. Many of them have been moved to another facility, according to officials.
WECT.com is told the manager on site was not in the office on Monday, but she is expected back this week.
Residents and family members we spoke with say they've called a number of times to get answers, but no one has returned their calls.
We reached out to the owner of the property, but our phone calls have not been returned.
