Nine of more than 100 cars overturned Saturday, and one of them carried ammonia. That car has since been turned upright, and repairs are underway for the train track.
All of the ammonia has been drained out of the car as of Wednesday. CSX officials are still on the scene.
Bladen Emergency Services said all but one car is off one of the side tracks and crews spent time Monday trying to clear it up. Cleanup is an ongoing process and could take several weeks before completion.
Residents were evacuated from the town of Bladenboro when the CSX freight train derailed from the tracks. Those who were forced from their homes were allowed to return around 10:30 Saturday night.
The train was on its way to Wilmington from Hamlet.
According to Emergency Services Director Bradley Kinlaw, more than 150 emergency personnel were at the site of the crash, including county and local emergency responders and a Hazmat team.
Kinlaw added that no injuries have been reported.
