
A student at Elizabethtown Middle School was charged after reports of a gun on campus came in to law enforcement.BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A middle school student from Bladen County was charged after a gun was found on school grounds.
According to Bladen County Schools, sheriff's deputies were called to Elizabethtown Middle School to investigate a report of a weapon found on campus.
A 13-year old brought a vintage starter pistol to Elizabethtown Middle on January 29, according to a school spokeswoman,
WECT.com is told the pistol is similar to the type used in signaling the start of a race or competitive sport and will only fire caps or blanks.
The teenager allegedly removed it from his grandfather's home and brought it to school.
The student was charged through juvenile services. No other details were released regarding the charges.
