WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – WAVE Transit raised fees and changes bus routes Sunday.
The company increased fees 33% from $1.50 to $2.00. WAVE officials cite significant cuts in state funding for the increase in fees.
An increase in ridership lead to WAVE expanding its coverage throughout the community and into Pleasure Island. As a result, six stops throughout the Creekwood Community have been dropped.
Officials believe the real test will come Monday and throughout the work week when more people will be utilizing public transit.
