More than $8K raised at Pender Co. yard sale for 12-year-old girl battling cancer

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WECT) – More than $8,000 was raised Saturday for a good cause.

Topsail Middle School student Kimberly Batchelor, 12, is battling a rare form of cancer.

As the cancer worsens, her medical bills are getting higher, and to help out, the Sloop Point Fire and

Rescue Station hosted a yard sale fundraiser Saturday morning. Event organizers announced how much they made from the sale at the end of the day.
