BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Crews in Brunswick County are still investigating the cause of a fire that happened Friday night, while they have ruled the cause of a separate fire that took place in the county as undeterminable.

According to Scott Garner, Emergency Management Director, the call for the first one came in around 6:10 p.m. for a possible barn fire at the corner of Oxpen Road and Boones Neck Road in Supply.

Upon arrival, firefighters from Civietown, Tri-Beach and Supply Fire Departments found a vacant home fully engulfed in flames.

Authorities said no one was inside, and there were no injuries. The structure was a total loss, and the fire is under investigation.

While crews were at the scene of that fire, a second structure fire was reported in Shallotte.

That second fire, in the Tolson Circle area, sparked some time around 7:30 p.m.

When crews arrived there, they came across a structure fire with a house partially involved and flames quickly spreading. Crews from Shallotte, Grissettown-Longwood and Sunset Beach Fire Departments responded, and the home's residents were not home at the time.

There were also no injuries in that fire, and the cause was ruled undeterminable, but foul play is not suspected.

The home was severely damaged, and the Red Cross is assisting the family.
