COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Two men are in the Columbus County Jail Friday after officers say Andrew Harris was caught with crack, $2,000 cash and a 40 caliber handgun. There was also a SKS assault rifle and weed, which belonged to Joseph Segarra.
Police say the men were sitting in a truck in the Sandy Ridge apartment complex. They were caught in the first of many task force missions to come. The Whiteville Narcotics Unit was assisted by A.L.E.
Harris is wanted in both New Jersey and Washington D.C. for weapon charges and other crimes. Harris had a false birth certificate, I. D. and social security card.
Harris's finger prints revealed his true name after the arrest. He was using the name of Andre Noel Macon from New York.
Both may be charged federally.
According to officials, Harris is charged with fugitive from justice, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a fraudulent I. D., resisting arrest, fictitious information to an officer and possession of cocaine.
Officials say Segarra is charged with possession of marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for narcotics.
