Locally filmed 'Witches of East End' picked up - but heads out West

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Lifetime is picking up Witches of East End, but it looks like the series won't be staying in Hollywood East.

The network purchased 10 episodes of the series, starring Jenna Dewan-Tatum, who is married to Channing Tatum.

The series filmed its pilot in Wilmington in October.

The show is based on Melissa de la Cruz's best-selling novel, Witches of East End. The plot centers on the adventures of Joanna Beauchamp (Julia Ormond) and her two adult daughters, who are witches.

According to Johnny Griffin from the Wilmington Regional Film Commission, when the production shot the pilot, local officials were told that due to a requirement of a cast member, if the show went to series, it would stay in L.A. Griffin said they haven't heard from those who are working on the series since filming of the pilot wrapped.
