PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – School bus drivers for Topsail schools found flat tires on more than a dozen buses parked at Topsail High School Thursday morning.
A spokesperson for the school district said this incident resulted in the disruption of bus service for the five Topsail schools.
It took more than four hours to replace 32 tires so buses could begin their normal routes around 9:45 a.m.
A teacher from Topsail High School said classes ran as scheduled Thursday. School officials confirmed no students will receive tardy slips if they arrive late as a result of the bus situation.
The total cost of the vandalism is unknown at this time. The Pender County Sheriff's Office is assisting with the investigation.
Authorities were at the school Thursday afternoon to conduct interviews in an effort to try to figure out what happened.
