WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Cooler and drier air rushes in to eastern North Carolina in the wake of last night's thunderstorms.
Take a look at the top gusts:
54 mph - Ocean Crest Pier
51 mph - Whiteville
49 mph - Wilmington International Airport
46 mph - Northern Bladen County
41 mph - Southport
44 mph - Supply
Breezy conditions for the morning commute will continue with temperatures several degrees below where we were on Wednesday. Highs today will struggle into the mid to upper 50s with winds out of the west, breezy at times, at 10-20 mph.
Things will calm down for late Thursday into Friday as a dry cold front will move into the region by late Friday taking temperatures for a drop. Saturday morning lows in the lower 20s and clear skies in Wilmington with upper teens inland will make it difficult to warm up during the afternoon. Expect highs around the 50 degree mark, warming into the upper 50s by Sunday.
