'Under the Dome' to start filming in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - We're learning more about a production that is going to be filmed in Wilmington.

According to CBS spokesperson Phil Gonzales, its new series, Under the Dome, will star Natalie Martinez (Broken City), Colin Ford (Supernatural) and Britt Robertson.

The series will be based in a fictitious town called Chester's Mill. The town finds itself surrounded by a mysterious barrier that won't allow people to travel outside of it.

Martinez will play 'Deputy Linda', a "young, ambitious deputy who's is fiercely loyal to Sheriff Duke Perkins, who runs a tight ship in the town of Chester's Mill", according to a spokesperson for CBS.

Ford plays 'Joe', a teenager who is "understandably freaked out" when he finds out his parents are outside of the barrier.

Robertson is 'Angie' a waitress and aspiring nurse who has dreamed of escaping the town.

The series has not announced a start date for production just yet; however, it is expected to air this summer. CBS has ordered 13 episodes of the series, which is based on a Stephen King novel.
