Potential jurors hear confession

Potential jurors in a Wilmington murder trial are learning the defendant admits he killed the victim.

The confession by Paul Cummings is in a court document filed in New Hanover County Superior Court. That document has been mentioned in court as jurors for the trial are selected.

The admission may be part of a strategy by defense lawyers to spare Cummings the death penalty.

He's accused of stabbing his neighbor, Jane Head, to death in her Dogwood Drive mobile home.
