Teenager shot at apartment in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting that took place on Crimson Court just before midnight Thursday.

Officers say they got on scene at an apartment in the 4300 block of Crimson County, smelled a strong odor of marijuana and found a 19-year-old man shot. He was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. The teen was conscious at the scene with a head wound when he was transported.

The other two people in the apartment, the victim's male roommate and a female guest, told police someone knocked on the door.  When the roommate answered the door, three men with handguns rushed in wearing hoodies with the hoods tied tightly around their faces.  Police say the three ransacked the house and then fired a shot at the victim while leaving. The men are accused of stealing marijuana, some money and two cell phones.

Police are still investigating.
