Warmer then cold front later today - WECT TV6-WECT.com:News, weather & sports Wilmington, NC

Not much rain, but front will drop temps Wednesday

Updated:

80s returned to central North Carolina Tuesday, but a cold front overnight will drop temperatures the rest of the week.

Tuesday did have some sunshine, but clouds ruled most of the day.  Despite the lack of sunshine, temperatures still made it into the 80s across central North Carolina.  The Triangle made it up to 83 while Fayetteville made it up to 85.  Tuesday was the second warmest day of the year and nearly ten degrees above normal for this time of year.

Overnight into Wednesday morning, the cold front will move through and any leftover rain and cloud cover will move out.  Temperatures won't drop that much overnight with a morning low Wednesday down to 50.

In the wake of this cold front, skies will be sunny Wednesday and temperatures will be much cooler with a high near 70.

The dry and pleasant weather continues Thursday with sunny skies expected and highs in the lower 70s.

Another cold front will approach on Friday and a few showers or storms are possible out ahead of the front. Highs on Friday will be in the upper 70s.
