WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A quick, but potent shot of Arctic air moves in Tuesday, keeping temperatures unseasonably low. Our daytime highs will essentially never warm up Tuesday.
The morning mid to low 40s, in spite of the sunshine, will have trouble warming much with northerly and northwesterly winds pumping in that cooler air. Tuesday night, the winds should drop some, but the lighter winds and cloudless skies will set us up for prime radiational cooling conditions. Expect lows to move into the mid 20s.
Wednesday won't be much warmer, in spite of cloudless skies. Some of the driest air we have seen this winter will be moving through during the afternoon.
Thursday, some clouds return and gradual warming is expected ahead of another cold front that could bring showers by Friday.
The weekend into next week's models appear to advertise cooler than normal conditions.
