
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wilmington fire officials responded to a house fire in the 1110 block of James Alley Friday afternoon, according to a spokesperson for the Wilmington Fire Department.
Officials say a juvenile playing with a lighter caused the fire.
Flames were visible when fire fighters arrived on the scene, and the fire was contained to a bedroom of origin, despite smoke spreading throughout the home.
No injuries were reported.
Damages are estimated to be $10,000 to the structure and $2,500 to contents.
The American Red Cross is currently helping the family.
The call came in at around 3:28 p.m. Fire officials responded to the scene about three minutes later, and all units were cleared around 5 p.m.
