BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Two suspects have been arrested and face murder charges in connection to the death of 26-year-old Hartford Sellers.
According to a news release from the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office, Nicholas Wayne Smith, 21, and Ryan Austin Harrelson, 16, were both charged with second degree murder.
Bond was not granted to either suspect.
Sheriff's officals say that deputies were called to respond to a fight involving baseball bats on Farm Meadows Road in Leland on Jan. 1.
There, they found Sellers lying unresponsive in a driveway of a home on the road.
Sellers was taken to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
Boyd Harrelson, 43, was also taken to the hospital that night and charged.
Originally, detectives arrested and charged Boyd Harrelson and Nickolas Wayne Smith in connection to the fight.
Previously, Boyd Harrelson was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and Smith was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
