KURE BEACH, NC (WECT) – Soldiers of the North Carolina National Guard are attending a two-week training program at Fort Fisher.
Nearly 1,000 soldiers from units across the state deployed to the area to test their communications, command and control skills.
The soldiers transformed the training site into a working headquarters with a joint operations center featuring satellite communications, living quarters, and other support needed for leaders to command forces in the field.
The exercises will help keep the soldiers ready to deploy in support of state or federal operations as directed by the President or Governor to protect lives and property of our citizens.
