The City of Wilmington could consider a public private partnership for the future of the Water Street Parking Deck.WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The City of Wilmington could consider a public private partnership for the future of the Water Street Parking Deck.
City staff and some council members will meet with representatives from UNC School of Government Wednesday. The SOG has a department dedicated to the public private partnerships.
The meeting will provide insight into what the city can and can't do with a private business.
Earlier this month, Wilmington City Manger Sterling Cheatham recommended City Council move forward with repairing the parking deck.
According to a memo, these repairs would allow the city to use the deck for three to five years while the city evaluates their long term plans.
If Council approves the plan, the city will move forward with demolishing the Grace Street entrance ramp, and make temporary repairs to the rest of the structure.
