NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – It will be another day of near record highs in southeast North Carolina today. The combination of high pressure off the southeast U.S. coast and an approaching slow moving cold front from the west will continue to bring southwest winds and warm temperatures.
Patchy areas of fog will be a problem this morning. This fog should burn off by 9 AM. The rest of the day will feature a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will rise form the upper 50's this morning to the mid and upper 70's by afternoon. There will be a slight shower chances near I-95 this afternoon. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with fog developing late. Lows will be in the mid to upper 50's.
Clouds and shower chances will ramp up in the days ahead as the slow moving front edges eastward. It will still be mild Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the upper 60's to low 70's. The best chance of widespread rain will be late Thursday and early Friday. Afternoon highs will fall into low 60's by Thursday and low 50's on Friday.
