BALD HEAD ISLAND, NC (WECT) - The cull was completed Friday morning, which produced a total of 20 does and 10 anterless bucks, according to a new release.
Although the shooting team is done, the operation is still wrapping up.
Bald Head Island partnered with the BHI Conservancy and island residents to help manage the white tail deer on the island.
The BHI Conservancy is helping to raise and organize about $60,000 in private donations needed for the first year of operations.
Once completed, the meat will be processed for donation to local food pantries.
