TOPSAIL ISLAND, NC (WECT) - The North Carolina Department of Transportation has chosen the location of the proposed Topsail Island Bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway, according to a news release.
The new structure, which will replace the aging swing bridge, will begin at the intersection of N.C. 50/ N.C. 210, which is Roland Ave., and will improve traffic flow for both motorists and boaters.
The new bridge will sit about 65 feet above the Intracoastal Waterway, according to officials.
Construction will begin in 2017.
