Cross country trails coming to Pender?PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Lengthy cross country trails can be hard to find in Pender County, but one group is hoping to change that. The Southern Off Road Biking Association (SORBA) is trying to build a 4-6 mile long cross country trail behind Heide Trask High School in Rocky Point.
Greg Brinson, the President of the organization, lives in Pender County, he says there aren't a lot of cross country trails.
"It's something we are seeing a need for," said Brinson. "This would be the first organized, and maintained trail in Pender County."
He says it would be for off-road cycling, and cross country running, which would also help out students at Trask.
"They don't really have a groomed trail to run on," said Brinson. "With a groomed trail they wouldn't have to worry about roots we would build it with them in mind."
