WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – High pressure moves overhead making this a dry and mostly sunny day with warming temperatures throughout the afternoon. High temperatures today should move into the upper 50s and low 60s with plenty of sunshine throughout the day. The light southerly winds on the back side of the high pressure center will bring warmer weather.
The pattern will be progressively warming throughout the end of the week into the weekend with highs approaching the 70s by Friday as a area of low pressure tracks to the west and north of North Carolina bringing some very mild temperatures.
The long range forecast continues to hint at warm weather as the southern branch of the jet stream seems poised to stay way up on the US/ Canadian border. Expect a chance for showers Thursday.
