COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A woman shot in the face by her estranged boyfriend is expected to be released from the hospital Monday.
According to family members, Latasha Smith, 28, will probably lose an eye as a result of the shooting, but should otherwise be okay.
Detectives believe Timothy Goings, 38 of Horry County, killed a man in Loris, SC, shot Smith in Columbus County and then turned the gun on himself.
According to the sheriff's office, the victim of the Loris shooting has been identified as 46-year-old Dan Rouse, who was Goings' roommate.
Columbus County Sheriff Chris Batten said his agency's investigation into the shooting is complete, but believes Horry County may still be investigating the shooting that happened there.
According to Batten, officials are waiting for autopsy results to see if Goings used the same gun on himself that he used on Smith and Rouse.
