WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – More details are being revealed regarding the murder of Clifton Sykes Junior.
According to a search warrant obtained by WECT.com, Sykes and a woman by the name of Mimi Mercedez Wyndham were in the bedroom of the home when some people busted through the backdoor with handguns. The search warrant notes the intruders were wearing red bandanas over their faces.
It goes on to state that the intruders then bound Sykes and Wyndham with duct tape and ransacked the house. They were allegedly looking for jewelry, cell phones and money.
When officers got to the house, they found Sykes on the kitchen floor. He reportedly had an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The warrant states that items looked like they had been tossed around and it appeared that there had been a struggle between the victims and intruders.
Items were also found on the sidewalk near the home in which detectives believe the intruders may have dropped on the way out of the home. Those items include watches, cell phone and some gun magazines.
Other items seized during the search include rolls of duct tape, tape from a bed frame in the bedroom, DNA swabs and samples of blood on the floor.
Detectives also found two jars of "wet leafy substance." They were located in the freezer. There was also a plastic baggie of a "green leafy substance" in the refrigerator.
No arrests have been made in this case.
