According to bank employees, the suspect handed the teller a note saying he had a gun before leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash.
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Authorities with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office made an arrest Wednesday afternoon in connection to a bank robbery at the BB&T in Castle Hayne.
According to the sheriff's office, James Bourgoyne, 35, was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
According to bank employees, shortly after noon, the suspect handed the teller a note saying he had a gun, before leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No one was harmed.
Deputies were told Bourgoyne was driving a white Nissan four-door vehicle with out-of-state license plates. Not long after, a deputy noticed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect driving on Hwy. 17 S. headed towards the USS NC Battleship.
Bourgoyne was then apprehended in a parking lot after deputies conducted a felony traffic stop.
Bourgoyne was transported to New Hanover County Detention Facility. His bond has been set at $1 million.
