WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – The Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry held a casual 5K event Tuesday to kick off the start of 2013.

Runners met at Wrightsville Beach, Access #2 and ran to the Oceanic Pier and end at the South End Surf Shop.

Some brave souls plunged into the Atlantic Ocean, while others sat back and watched.

Black-eyed peas and cornbread were served, compliments of Causeway Café.
