WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The pressure gradient between a departing coastal low off the coast of Maine and a high over the Tennessee valley will create a cold and blustery Sunday. Northwest winds between 10 and 15 miles per hour will drop wind chills into the 20 degree range early Sunday. Afternoon wind chill swill be near 40. Coats will be required!
The official Sunday forecast calls for sunny skies and actual highs in the upper 40's. Sunday night will be cold with lows dipping into the mid and upper 20's. Monday will be mostly sunny and a bit milder with highs in the mid 50's.
On Tuesday (New Year's Day) a weak system will bring clouds along with scattered light showers, mainly late in the day into Tuesday night. Highs Tuesday will reach the upper 50's. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy but a stronger system will bring a chilly rain on Thursday. Highs Wednesday will reach the upper 50's and highs Thursday will be in the low 50's.
