COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The Columbus County Sheriff's Office responded to two separate homicides on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Authorities said one murder is solved. Deputies are still searching for suspects in the second case.
On Christmas Eve at 1:15 a.m., deputies responded to the home of Rebecca Ann Buffkin, 46, at 980 Wright Rd. near Tabor City. Authorities said Buffkin was found shot to death on her kitchen floor.
Her boyfriend, Beamon Fowler, 60, of Tabor City has been charged with her murder, telling authorities that he shot her in the head with her own handgun following a domestic dispute.
Fowler is being held at the Columbus County Detention Center without bond. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in court Thursday on a charge of murder.
In a separate, unrelated incident, deputies responded around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning to 988 John Coleman Rd., where a man was found shot to death. The victim is Gilberto Antonio Segovia, 51.
Authorities said his girlfriend, Amy Jane Wilson, was forcefully removed from the home during the incident by an ex-boyfriend. Wilson escaped unharmed a few minutes later.
Columbus County Sheriff's deputies are seeking the unnamed suspect and two possible accomplices. They have not released a description of the suspects.
