CFCC student receives help from holiday helpers

HAMPSTEAD, NC - (WECT) - As part of the Holiday Helpers program more than 100 community donors gave $14,000 to help 140 CFCC families receive Christmas presents.
Anjanette Hare is one student who received assistance this year. She is studying pre-elementary education at CFCC and has three children. A five-year-old, a nine-year-old, and an 18-year-old serving in the Army. In June, her husband died suddenly leaving her overwhelmed with medical bills and funeral expenses.

She says without the help, she wouldn't have been able to give her kids the Christmas she wanted too.

"I wondered what I would say to them," said Hare. "This Christmas has been tough, it's not going to be like last Christmas, things are tough and you wonder how you will explain that to a nine-year old and five-year-old."

The program was stared in 2005, by CFCC board member Betsy Leonard.
