LANCASTER, SC (AP) - Authorities say a South Carolina father suspected of kidnapping his 5-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter led police on a chase before he was arrested in Union County, N.C.
Investigators say 37-year-old Dennis Penny II is charged with kidnapping and burglary in Chesterfield County.
Police investigating the disappearance of the children issued an Amber Alert, then discovered Thursday morning that Penny withdrew money from a Lancaster bank. Officers then spotted Penny, who pulled over after a short chase.
Authorities say Penny refused to get out of the truck with his children and drove off after officers tried to pull him out. The chase ended after Penny drove into a field and was trapped between pursuing officers and a fence. The children weren't harmed.
It wasn't clear if Penny had a lawyer.
