WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Both Walmart locations in Wilmington were evacuated Wednesday morning after store managers called a "code blue."

All shoppers and employees were forced to leave the store around 7:45 a.m. Employees were allowed to go back into the stores just before 8:15 a.m.

According to the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, someone called in a bomb threat to the business. The caller did not specify which location, so both stores were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Officers with the Wilmington Police Department were investigating the Walmart on Sigmon Road while deputies with the sheriff's office were at the Walmart in Monkey Junction.

Authorities are working to trace the call to determine who made the threat. They say they know it came from a cell phone inside New Hanover County.
