PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A family in the area has made it their mission to collect enough stuffed animals to help comfort the children of Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut.
A child came up with the idea after his mom asked what he thought we could do to help the survivors. He said the stuffed animals would help some kids with being afraid.
Their goal is to collect as many pillow pets and Cookie Detective books they can to drive to Connecticut. The idea is that children can use these items whenever they need a moment to be consoled.
Additionally, the family hopes to collect enough pillow pets and books to give counselors in Pender and New Hanover counties a supply for their crisis situations.
Anyone willing to host a drop-off site should call (910) 270-0911 or email email@example.com.
Donations of new pillow pets and Cookie Detectives books can be brought to The Well CDC at 14840 US Hwy 17 North Hampstead. Donation receipts can be written for these items.
