First group of Isaac Bear students graduate from UNCWWILMINGTON, NC - (WECT) - More than 1,300 students walked across the stage at UNCW on Saturday to graduate. Several of the students graduating are part of the first group of Isaac Bear Early College graduates to graduate from UNCW.
The program was created in 2006, and allows students to start taking college classes, while they are completing high school.
"I can remember when the program first started, no one knew how it would work out," said David Cordle, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. "We were bringing high school students into our mist here, and we wondered how that would work out but I have to say its been better than anyone could have imagined."
