WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – A man is explaining why he is asking local town leaders to create an ordinance for roofs.
Town employees said Briggi presented a presentation the town's planning board in hopes of having them develop a way to stop the use of reflective roofing around the island.
"The glare changes over the course of year as the sun is high in the sky," he said.
Not only is the sun glaring into his home, but he said the temperatures are rising in and around his home because of the roof.
"The heat is very real because on my side yard I do a lot of carpentry projects and painting projects and it's pretty tough to be out there to the point I've moved under the house to do the work but the glare comes in the house."
Briggi said the angle of the rood causes the sunlight to glare directly back into his home.
Town officials refused to speak about the issue on camera, but said they are in the early stages of discussing Briggi's complaint.
Right now they are exploring if any other municipalities ban specific colors or types of roofs. If any decision is made it will happen in 2013.
