HOKE COUNTY, NC (WECT) – An Amber Alert for a missing 12-year-old boy issued for North Carolina Thursday night has been canceled.
The Hoke County Sheriff's Office was in charge of the search.
Authorities said the alleged abductor was the child's mother.
Just before 11:30 p.m., the Amber Alert was called off.
State agencies didn't release any other details.
Media reports out of Raleigh say the child's mother was unaware of the alert. She claims police never contacted her, and she and her son were at home the whole time.
No other information has been released.
