PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Pender County is auctioning off 50 cars and 20 other items this weekend. The other items include everything from tires, to tractors to the shell of an old dental mobile unit.
The county's finance officer says the county hasn't had an auction in about five years, so it will both clear space at the old landfill and help increase the county's revenue.
"We've been accumulating these assets for five to seven years," said C.B. "Butch" Watson, the county's finance officer. "It was time to clean up some of the room around the landfill that way we get some room to park other items."
The auction will take place at 2010 S. Bennett Street in Burgaw at 10am on Saturday, December 15.
