WHITEVILLE, NC (WECT) - The town of Whiteville is setting aside about $1,000 to go towards getting trains back up and running in Columbus County.
Whiteville's mayor says they're holding the money in case the Interstate Railroad Committee needs it in the future.
County commissioners recently voted to set aside at least $30,000.
Trains have not traveled through the area in more than a year.
