CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – Two men face charges after reportedly selling narcotics to a plain-clothes detective.
Laraun Derik Moultrie, also known as "Y-G", and William Evans Bryant IV, both of Riegelwood, were arrested and charged after a plain-clothes detective with the police department bought $680 worth of crack-cocaine and marijuana from them at a motel on Carolina Beach Ave. N. on Nov. 29, according to a spokesperson with the Carolina Beach Police Department.
The men were both wearing Town of Wrightsville Beach sanitation uniforms when they delivered the drugs to the detective.
Following the transaction, patrol officers proceeded to stop Moultrie and Bryant, still in uniform, in a vehicle in the 1100 block of N. Lake Park Blvd.
The men were charged, and Moultrie was placed under a $7,500 bond, while Bryant was placed under a $3,000 bond.
Moultrie was charged with selling/delivering a schedule II controlled substance; selling/delivering a schedule VI controlled substance; felony possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle for the use/sale of a controlled substance.
Bryant was charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of a schedule VI controlled substance; conspiracy to sell/deliver crack-cocaine, and conspiracy to sell/deliver a schedule VI controlled substance.
Wrightsville Beach interim town manager Tony Wilson said Thursday Moultrie has been terminated from his position with the town. Wilson couldn't comment on the status of Bryant's position because it is still a pending personnel issue.
