WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Headline concerts for the Azalea Festival will have a new home in 2013. The concerts will move from Trask Coliseum at UNCW to a CFCC parking lot venue on Front Street.
According to Azalea Festival organizers, moving the location of the concerts will allow for more people to attend with lower ticket prices. The new venue will be able to hold about 3,000 – 5,000 more guests than the previous venue.
Organizers said the new venue will also allow for the festival to manage food and beverage sales.
The concerts will now be held in the Front Street lot adjacent to CFCC's Schwartz Center. Concerts will be rain or shine events and general admission standing room.
According to festival officials, plans are underway for a possible upgrade to "purchased seating" and for a hospitality area for cash sponsors of the Azalea Festival.
This stage will also serve as the festival's main stage for the street fair during the day.
Concert dates and entertainment details have not been established at this time.
