WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Work on a downtown Wilmington landmark this weekend will change some traffic patterns.
Crews will be working on the Kenan Fountain on 5th Street over the next several days.
Friday, workers narrowed the intersection around the fountain at 5th and Market to one lane.
This could be a preview of what's to come for drivers.
City leaders are considering making changes to traffic flow at the intersection to protect the historic fountain, which has been damaged several times over the past year from cars that have hit it.
Crews will also add more light and reflectors to prevent drivers from hitting the structure.
