The punishment for an East Texas student, originally put in alternative school for the rest of the school year, was reduced on Tuesday.
Colby Phillips was given 161 days of alternative school following a fight at New Diana ISD last week.
On Tuesday, the school board ruled to reduce the suspension and allow
him to return to regular classes following the holiday break.
Colby's mother contacted KLTV about her plans to appeal what she called an "excessive" punishment.
