WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Several members of the Union Beach Police Department in New Jersey were at the Wilmington City Council agenda brief Monday morning.

The department was at the brief to thank council members in person for donating two Wilmington Police Department vehicles to their fleet.

Captain Jack Jarvis with the Wilmington Fire Department has a friend from Union Beach. When he heard about the damages to the vehicles, he worked with council member Charlie Rivenbark on donating the two vehicles.

Chief Scott Wolley said Hurricane Sandy destroyed 12 of 14 vehicles on the New Jersey force. Since then, the department has been borrowing cruisers that have been loaned to them from around the country.
