Suspect in nightclub shooting surrenders to authorities

The suspect wanted in a fatal shooting inside a Tyler nightclub has turned himself in, according to the Smith County Jail.

Marquel Jermon Scott, 32, of Tyler was wanted for one count of homicide and one count of aggravated assault after police say a man was killed and another was left in critical condition following a shooting at Hyena's Club in the 2100 block of North Grand Avenue in Tyler.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on November 26 when gunfire erupted inside the nightclub.

Keeston Dwone Fields, 26, and John T. Woods, 33, both of Tyler, were transported by private vehicle to a local hospital.

Fields later died from his injuries, and Woods remains in critical condition.

Bond had been set for Scott at $750,000 and $500,000 respectively. A motive in the crime has not been released at this time.
