WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Getting in on the next big business idea -- that's the goal the Research Triangle Park Bus Tour set for UNCW students Thursday.
Executives with the Research Triangle Park also aimed to teach students how to get the best use out of their college degrees.
"The Triangle Park was a huge risk back in the 1950's, but it was built from the ground up and is now a global brand-- we want to get these students in on the movement of re imagining North Carolina businesses. Inspiring entrepreneurship and creating more start-up companies is something which could be very appealing to people here in Wilmington," said President and CEO of the Research Triangle Foundation, Robert Geolas.
The bus tour, which will travel all over the state, also aims to reconnect the Research Triangle Park to the people of North Carolina. Pathways to Opportunity is a two-week bus journey and listening tour designed to assist in re imagining the Park and its vital connection to North Carolina.
"We know our state faces challenges in today's tough economy — and we know our community colleges and Universities, like the RTP, are still working to create Pathways to Opportunity for all of North Carolina. To meet today's challenges, we need bold new ideas for how to reconnect with our communities and re imagine our future," said Geolas.
