WILMINGTON, NC (WECT)- A chilly start to the day with temperatures only a few degrees above freezing to start the day. Clouds and southwesterly winds will move in throughout the day today, highs will move into the mid 60s before the showers get here this afternoon and evening. The showers, associated with a low pressure center and cold front that will affect the mid Atlantic states should only produce small amounts of rain here in eastern North Carolina.
The real story with this system will be another round of cold Canadian high pressure moving in, in its wake. Highs will struggle into the mid 50s during the afternoon as cold winds keep conditions outside a bit uncomfortable despite sunny skies.
Warmer, dry and sunny weather is expected through the end of the week into the weekend.
