WEATHER: Cool and breezy, sub-freezing temps overnight

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A cold front overnight produced breezy and cooler conditions today. However, we will continue to see abundant sunshine throughout the weekend. Temperatures will climb into the mid 50s with lows in the upper 20s overnight. Winds will pick up throughout the day due to a stronger pressure gradient. Winds will range from 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 near the coast.

A freeze warning will go into effect tonight at 11 p.m. ending Sunday morning at 8 a.m. as temperatures are expected to fall below freezing. Winds will diminish tonight, as well.

High pressure will move east Sunday, near the Carolinas. Expect temperatures to fall a bit. Daytime highs will climb into the low 50s while lows will only reach the mid 30s.

Temperatures will start to warm up again by Monday.
